As I was reading Jacqueline Winspear’s novel, Maisie Dobbs this week, I ran across the phrase betwixt and between. I’ve heard it before, but not recently. What a delightful little phrase. Doesn’t it have a magical ring to it? It means midway between two things or neither one thing or another. You could say it means wishy washy. But I disagree. I think it’s a strong phrase, and leaves the door open for anything. The night I read that I shared the phrase on twitter, and two pals there immediately replied that they loved it too. Isn’t it wonderful how words can connect us? Have you come across this phrase before? Have you ever used it? Tell me about it.
